Flood in Thund Nala broke the road and damaged the fields

 Due to heavy rains, the Thund Nallah of Satlai Panchayat of Mashobra Block was flooded and the Chhlanda Peeran road was closed yesterday at about 3 pm. Apart from this, the fields of the local people have suffered a lot due to the accumulation of silt in large quantities. Due to which, the people of Thund staged a sit-in protest on Saturday and stopped the work of opening the road and demanded compensation for the damage to the land from the government.
The administration took immediate action and Naib Tehsildar Junga Rajendra Thakur, along with police and other departments reached the spot and heard the problems of the people. Thereafter the work of opening the road started.
Junior Engineer Public Works Department Chhalanda Dharmendra Kumar said that the flow of flood in Thund Nala was so fast that about 20 meters of the road including the culvert has been broken. While about 150 feet of the road has been filled with silt. Due to which the movement of vehicles was stopped since yesterday. He said that after the protest of the local people ended, the work of opening the road was done on a war footing and the road was opened with the help of JCB within four hours.
Naib Tehsildar Rajendra Thakur said that people have suffered a lot due to silt filling in the fields and instructions have been issued to the Patwari and the concerned departments to assess the damage properly. He suggested the local people to apply for a joint inspection to assess the damage properly.
Local resident Deepak Thakur said that for the past three to four years, this drain gets flooded during rains and the fields get filled with silt causing a lot of damage but till date the government has not given a single penny in the name of compensation.
On this occasion, Kanungo Arvind, Satlai Panchayat head Netra Singh, Peeran Panchayat head Kiran Sharma, Patwari Shubham Sharma, besides representatives of PWD, JSV department, police and forest department were also present.
