Fire claimed a bus at Hamirpur bus stand on Sunday night

A private bus was reduced to ashes at the local Bus stand on Sunday night perhaps due to the bursting of crackers. As soon as the fire incident was reported, a team of the fire department reached the spot and took part in extinguishing the fire.

The fire was so severe that the bus was not saved from burning.

However, other buses parked nearby were shifted to safer places and no other incident was reported, said Rajendra Chaudhry, the fire officer.

Chaudhry said that had the fire brigade team not reached the spot in time, the loss would have been much higher. He said that he received information about the fire around 8:30. The fire was brought under control within half an hour. He said that other buses parked in the parking lot along with the bus have been saved from the fire.

The owner of the bus suffered a loss to the tune of several lakh rupees, according to automobile dealers.
