Farmers demand a high-level investigation into the Garpenya irrigation scheme

Farmers have raised questions about the working style of the department on the construction of the irrigation scheme being constructed under the Integrated Development Project of the World Bank in Garpenya of Gram Panchayat Satog of Kasupanti constituency. The beneficiaries of this scheme allege that under the project, the forest department has used substandard material in the check dam for storing water on the Garpenya drain. The condition of this Chad Dam is that water does not collect in it but rather the water leaks into the ground. Similarly, the farmers had demanded the Forest Department to install an inch pipe in this irrigation scheme, in return for which the department gave only one and a half-inch pipe, which has been sent back to the department by the beneficiaries. Let us tell you that an integrated development project is being implemented in the state with the help of the World Bank, which is being operated through the Forest Department.
Jai Ishwari Water Utility Group Garpenya head Om Prakash Sharma, Secretary Manoj Kumar, members Ishwar Lal, Rakesh, Mohanlal, Ajay Sharma, Ramlal, Rakesh-2, Harinchad Sharma, and many farmers said that water is available in Garpenya ravine for 12 months. In the rainy season, this water becomes 6-7 inches whereas in summer it remains three inches. From whose water farmers grow their cash crops. I told him that about a year ago the irrigation scheme for Garpenya village was approved. Substandard material has been used in the construction of this scheme due to which water is leaking into the dam itself. Om Prakash Sharma said that as per the demand of the people, the Forest Department has not even provided the pipes that have been returned. Under this scheme, a storage tank has been constructed which has also been plastered for about a year. Farmers are not getting any benefit from this scheme. Farmers have demanded a high-level investigation into the irregularities in the implementation of this scheme.
On the other hand, the DFO of the project Narendra Pal Dulta said that an amount of Rs 4.60 lakh has been sanctioned under the project for the Garpenya Irrigation Scheme and this scheme is being prepared on the basis of a technical report and estimate.
