Ex-servicemen were honored on Independence Day at Chiyog School
On the occasion of Independence Day, ex-servicemen were honoured at Government Excellent Senior Secondary School, Chiyog. On this auspicious occasion, retired Subedar Major Laik Ram Chandel hoisted the national flag and took the salute of the attractive march past presented by the children.
On this occasion, students of Kendra Prathmik Pathshaala and Government Senior Secondary School Chiyog made the function attractive by presenting patriotic songs and cultural programmes. Shivansh of the school recited a poem on patriotism and Ankit, Yashaswini and Shraddha highlighted the importance of Independence Day.
In his address, Principal Sandeep Kumar Sharma said that 15th August is a day of pride for the people of the country. Many patriots and freedom fighters have sacrificed their lives to free the country from the shackles of slavery, which the grateful nation will never forget. He appealed to the children to follow the footsteps of the great sons of the freedom struggle, which would be a true tribute to them. SMC President Ramesh Verma presented his views on the history and importance of independence. Retired Head Constable Shyamanand from ITBP, SMC members, teachers and local people participated in the program.
