Even after 78 years of independence, the people of Juggar village are forced to carry water.

Due to the indifference and negligence of the officials of the Jal Shakti Department, the people of Juggar village of Satlai Gram Panchayat of Kasupanti constituency are forced to carry water on their shoulders even after 78 years of independence. Although under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the target has been set to provide tap water in every house, but in Juggar village, no family has got a tap installed or water from the department. Let us tell you that a total of 22 families live in this village whose population is around 135.
90 year old Buddhi Singh Thakur and 75 year old Khayali Ram of Juggar said that their entire life has been spent carrying water but no government has made a drinking water or irrigation scheme for this village. They say that the department has definitely made a drinking water scheme for Juggar school which is about 100 meters below the village. Where a public tap has been installed and from that tap all the villagers carry water on their shoulders by climbing a hill of about 100 meters. Buddhi Singh Thakur said that about eight years ago a pipe line was laid for this village from the adjoining Panchayat Satog but due to lack of water in the line, that pipe has also been destroyed by the government.
Many villagers, including Tilak Ram Thakur, Sandeep Kumar, Sushil Kumar, Munni Devi, Rukmani Devi, and Sadho Devi, said that water could be lifted from the school pipeline using a small motor, and that by building a storage tank in the village, tap water could be made available to every household. They say that no senior department official has ever visited this village. Officials are satisfied with the local fitter’s report, but they have never come to the spot to resolve the drinking water problem on the ground.
Sunil Bhikta, JE of the JSV department in Koti, said that due to the vacant JE position, he is currently in charge of seven sections, which prevents him from effectively inspecting any project. He added that a new drinking water scheme is being constructed for Kuftu, near Juggar. This scheme will provide water to Juggar in the coming days.
