Ensure compliance with set rules for the marketing of Apple crop: Jagat Singh Negi

Horticulture Minister, Jagat Singh Negi while presiding over the meeting organized in view of apple season here today said that effective decisions have been taken by the State Government with a view to make this apple season a success for the horticulturists, commission agents and all other stakeholders. Education Minister, Rohit Thakur and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Horticulture, Mohan Lal Brakta was also present in the meeting along with Horticulture Minister.

He said that according to the notification issued by the state government on 6 April, 2023 apples brought in boxes to all the fruit markets of the state will be weighed and sold on basis of kilogram, which will also include the weight of the packing material (bardana). The maximum limit of the weight of the box has been set at 24 kg. The decision has been appreciated by all the stakeholders, but it has come to the notice of the government that rules were being flouted at some places wherein strict action will be taken. The concerned authorities have been empowered by the state government to take action in such situations, whose strict compliance will be ensured. Horticulture Minister instructed the concerned officials to inspect all the arrangements and manage them smoothly.

The Horticulture Minister has urged the horticulturists to ensure the quality of grading and packing of their apples so that they can get a fair price for their produce. He said that the commission agents should follow all the rules and maintain cordial relations with the horticulturists.

Deputy Commissioner Solan, Manmohan Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Shimla, Aditya Negi, Superintendent of Police Shimla, Sanjay Gandhi, Superintendent of Police Solan, Gaurav Singh, Managing Director Himachal Pradesh State Agricultural Marketing Board, Hemis Negi, Sub-Divisional Officers of various sub-divisions, Managing Director Himachal Pradesh Marketing and Processing Committee, Sudesh Mokta, senior officers of Horticulture, Agriculture and other departments were also present during the meeting.
