Energy crisis in South East Asia: Stakeholders gathers in coolclime of Shimla

As Coal crisis is looming large in the peak consumption summer season in the south east Asia various Indian stakeholders of energy gathered at Shimla in coolclime to mop up the plan to achieve energy efficiency, early execution of power projects, energy audit and utilization of Hydrogen as a fuel source.A spokesperson of state government said in a press statement here today that DoE and ASSOCHAM organizes “First Stakeholders Workshop for Preparation of State Energy Efficiency Action Plan” for state of Himachal. The duo with the aegis of Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry is reportedly preparing short or long term plan. Iauguratingthe workshop, Harikesh Meena, Director (Energy) suggested that the action plan should find the areas in which all the stakeholder departments were working and have initiated for implementing energy efficiency. Discussion points for this workshop were, such as Proper implementation of Swaran Jayanti Energy Policy, 2021, Himachal Pradesh Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy, Successful implementation of PAT Scheme, ECBC implementation, Energy Audit of Government buildings, Hydrogen fuel utilization etc.Apart from these it was also emphasized that the action plan should list out policies in the state for Energy Efficiency and their impact in quantitative form so that targets could be set for the state which could provide a realistic picture of how much effort has gone into energy efficiency. Officials from Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, GOI were also invited for the workshop virtually.Aashish Kudal and Vipul Shardanandan Project Coordinator hailed the participants on behalf of ASSOCHAM and urged for continuous support for successful completion of the state.The workshop was attended by more than 30 senior government officials from various stakeholder departments such as Buildings, Industries, Agriculture, Transportation, DISCOM /Utilities and Municipalities and gave suggestions for the State Energy Efficiency Action Plan.ASSOCHAM presented the inception report and surveys for the stakeholder inputs and suggestions to be incorporated in the action plan.
