Education Minister urges Himachalis living in NCR to serve motherland

Education Minister Rohit Thakur attended the Sair Mahotsav and 64th Annual Function of Mandi Jan  Kalyan Sabha as Chief Guest at New Delhi today. 

Speaking on the occasion, Education Minister said that the state government was focused towards development and welfare of the people of the state. This has resulted in growth in every sphere, he added.

Rohit Thakur said that Himachal Pradesh was rich in traditions which should be kept alive at all costs. He said that we should not forget our culture, traditions and native place which are our roots and the essence of our identity. He said thatyoung generation should be made aware of our cultural heritage and they should carry forward the traditions that will ensure our identity for generations to come.

He said that Sair Mahotsav was an important event for people of Himachal and celebrated to mark the end of crop harvest. There are many local traditions associated with it and it is celebrated with great enthusiasm and zeal, he added.

Sh. Thakur urged the Himachali Community residing in National Capital Region to come forward and extend support in serving the people of the state which would be a true service to the motherland. He also urged them to be in touch with their roots and keep the traditions alive.

He also highlighted the transformational reforms done by the Himachal government in the education sector in the state. He said that Himachal Pradesh has jumped from 21st to 5th position in the national education rankings. He stated that 100 schools would soon be converted into CBSE-based institutions to provide better education opportunities to children in villages. Due to these reforms in the education sector the people would witness up-gradation in the education system within the next two to three years in the state.

He announced Rupees one lakh for the cultural programme and the Sabha on the occasion.

He also honoured various persons performing distinguished services in various fields.

K R Verma President District Mandi Jan  Kalyan Sabha welcomed the Chief Guest and other guests and informed about various social and humanitarian activities being undertaken by the Sabha in Mandi district and NCR. 

A colorful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion.
