Early snowfall damage unharvested apple crop, Keylong freezes at minus 1.3 degree Centigrade

Advance winter season and snowfall in bye election bound areas of Mandi parliamentary segment especially in Lahaul Spiti and Kinnuar districts, intensified the extreme cold wave conditions as night temperature of many places staying in minus, Met Officer confirmed.    
After two days of inclement weather it was mainly dry in the state however the number of roads and normal  lives remained out of gear as many highways, water and electricity could not be restored in many villages in the Kinnuar and Lahaul Spiti snowbound area
Two national highways and 12 other  roads are snowbound or disrupted by recent rainfall. 
State Emergency Operation Centre spokesperson Mr Sudesh Mokta said that Manali- Chandigarh national highway no-3 is  snowbound from Darcha to Sarchu and NH 505 is blocked from Lossar to Gramphu. 
Ten link roads and two  NH are snow bound  Lahaul Spiti. Two link road are off at Nrmand and three and Banjar subdivisions of Kullu district. 
He said that power supply is down in 41 areas in Lahaul Sptii and Sirmaur district. Power supply is off in 37 distribution transformers ( DTRs) in Spiti subdivision and four DTR in Rajgarh subdivision of Sirmaur distirct. The water supply was also disrupted in 12 water supply schemes of Spiti subdivision of Lahaul Spiti district.   


Spokesperson of district administration Kinnuar said half dozen of villages under Pooh subdivision in Kinnuar district farmers rendered heavy loss as their apple laden trees damaged by the recent snowfall knocked down the unharvested apple tree branches and fruits on the ground.
We have asked the revenue officials to report the loss caused to the apple crops at Gyabung village of Ropa valley, Chango, Doling Kanda, Lipa, Asrang and Nako village  and after heavy rainfall and snowfal on Monday and Tuesday, spokesperson said. 
Night temperature of Keylong, district headquarter of Lahaul Spiti stayed under sub zero as the minimum temperature this morning recorded minus 1.3 degrees, which is two degree below normal. Tourist resort Manali 5.5 degrees, Kalpa in Kinnuar was seven degrees, Bhuntar in Kullu 9.5 degrees  and Kufri and Shimla 12. 2 and 12.4 degrees.
Minimum temperature of Mandi and Sundernagar 11.6 and 11.8 degrees, Chamba 12 degrees Palampur in Kangra 12.3 degrees, Dalhousie in Chamba 13 degrees Hamirpur 14 degrees, Dharmshala 15 degrees , Kangra and Bilaspur 15.5 degrees each, Una 16.4 degrees and Nahan in Sirmaur 17.3 degress. Met office forecast mainly dry weather in the state during next 24hrs.
