Dussehra fair will be celebrated in Junga from 24 to 26 October

The ancient and district-level Dussehra fair of Keonthal state will be celebrated with great enthusiasm this year from 24th to 26th October in the historical grounds of Junga. Apart from Lanka Dahan, the cultural program and wrestling fair will be the main attraction. This information was given by Tehsildar Junga Ravindra Sashodiya while presiding over the meeting organized on Saturday regarding the organization of the fair.
Let us tell you that after the declaration of the district level fair, it has started being celebrated as a three-day fair since last year. The history of this fair is linked to the then-Keonthal princely state. According to tradition, the stick of Raghunath i.e. Thakur ji is taken out from Rajmahal Junga along with drums which is welcomed by the local people in the fairground. According to tradition, only the ruler of the Keonthal state burns the effigies of Ravana, Meghnad, and Kubhkarna. After that Raghunath’s palanquin is taken back to the palace.
This year, as per tradition, Dussehra will begin on 24 October and effigies of Ravana, Kubhkarna, and Meghnad will be burnt in the evening. Similarly, Star Night is being organized by the fair committee on 25th October in which famous artists from the state will be invited so that the people coming to the fair can be thoroughly entertained. On the same day, a women’s tug-of-war competition will also be organized at the fair. Whereas on October 26, a huge danger will be organized in which famous wrestlers of North India will show their talent.
Heads of various panchayats of Junga tehsil and other members of the fair committee participated in the meeting.
