Due to heavy rains, the Under 14 tournament going on in Peeran was cancelled

 Due to the continuous torrential rains for the last three days, the Mashobra Block Under 14 Sports Competitions going on in Government Senior Secondary School Peeran have been cancelled. This has been confirmed by Deputy Director Primary Education Shimla Nisha Baluni. She said that keeping in mind the safety of the children, the department has decided to cancel the sports competitions. She also clarified that the Under 14 sports competitions for girl students to be held in Peeran on September 6 have also been cancelled in view of heavy rains and weather. Although the tournaments were going on smoothly for the last three days, due to heavy rains since last night, these competitions have been cancelled on the last day of the games.
According to sports in-charge Nandlal Sharma, 8 out of 12 indoor and cultural competitions have been completed in the last three days. Only four games, volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho and badminton competitions were left for which trials were conducted and players have been selected for district level competitions which will be held in Rampur in the coming days. He told that judo, chess, yoga, group singing, classical singing, solo folk singing, one act play, folk dance and speech competitions have been organized.
He told that about 350 children from 24 schools of Mashobra education block participated in this sports competition. Despite heavy rain, the organizing committee has made excellent arrangements for food and accommodation of the children. Due to rain, the games were cancelled on the last day of the tournament. The department has decided that until the rain stops and the movement of vehicles on the roads becomes normal, the children coming from far-flung areas will stay in Peeran School itself, for whom proper arrangements for food etc. have been made. He told that the children will be sent to their respective schools only when the weather clears.
