Due to dampness in the building of Middle and Primary School Sol, the education of children is getting affected
Due to heavy rains, rain water seeped into the building of Middle and Primary School Sol of Baldiya Panchayat of Mashobra Block, due to which all the floors of the rooms have become wet and the walls have also become damp. The rooms have become filled with water due to the collapse of the wall at the back of the primary school building, due to which three classes of the primary school have been shifted to the community building Sol. While there are only two rooms in the building of the middle school, due to water dripping from the roof, the walls and floors of the rooms have become very damp. While the middle school administration has no option for seating the children.
SMC Pradhan Leela Devi, local resident Durga Singh Thakur, Mangat Ram told that about four to five months ago a dam was installed in the middle school’s playground. About 20 feet of it fell down a few days ago, breaking the windows of the back wall of the primary school and due to water accumulation, all the rooms have become damp. Similarly, the condition of the middle school building is very bad. There is no playground for the children. When it rains, all the water drips into the rooms. In such a situation, children are forced to study in damp rooms. Children can also fall ill due to sitting in dampness.
Durga Singh says that the contractor had filled the embankment with soil instead of stones. Due to poor construction work, a part of the embankment has collapsed in the rain while the remaining part can also collapse anytime in the rain.
Middle school headmaster Dharmendra Kanwar said that there is excessive dampness in one room in which eighth grade students sit.
Prem Thakur, former president of District Shimla BJP Organization has demanded from the district administration that the pole be repaired immediately and action be taken against the concerned contractor.
