Drunk driving or listening to mobile is a legal offense
A one day workshop on road safety was organized in Government College Chail Koti. DSP Shimla Shakti Singh presided over the workshop. While giving information about road safety to the students and staff members present in the workshop, he said that in the present scenario, it has become mandatory for every person to follow the road safety rules. He said that increasing road accidents are proving to be very fatal for people. Listening to mobile while driving, driving after drinking alcohol and playing stereo at high volume is a crime. He told that if any driver in public transport drives in an intoxicated state or is listening to mobile, then he should be stopped immediately and the police should be informed about it. Apart from this, people should also be careful while crossing the road. Every driver should follow the red light, etc. Information was given about the rules. He urged the students to make everyone in their village and neighbourhood aware about traffic rules. He gave information about road community policing. He said that this workshop has been organised to make the society crime free and to make the common citizens aware to help the police.
Dr. Devendra Sharma informed that organizing such awareness programs is a positive initiative by educational institutions, which will make the society aware and safe. NSS volunteers made a special contribution in making the workshop successful. Executive Principal Dr. Subhash Kapata, Ajay Kayth, Amrit Mehta, Inder Negi, Sushil Mehta, Harinder Thakur and Bobija were also present in the workshop.
