Drones and CCTV to Guard Himachal Assembly During Budget Session
As Himachal Pradesh gears up for its upcoming budget session on February 16, security around the Legislative Assembly in Shimla is being tightened like never before. From drones hovering above to CCTV cameras keeping watch, authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the proceedings run smoothly.
Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania announced that elaborate arrangements have been made for the 11th budget session of the 14th Assembly. The first phase will last three days, with the possibility of extension. With 125 questions already submitted by members — ranging from starred to unstarred notices — the session promises to be a busy one.
Given the likelihood of protests and rallies, the Assembly premises and surrounding areas have been divided into four security sectors, each overseen by senior police officers. A massive deployment of 872 personnel, including constables, commandos, Home Guards, and plainclothes investigators, will be on duty.
Surveillance will go beyond traditional policing, with drones, digital videography, and photography keeping a close eye on sensitive spots. Traffic personnel have also been stationed to manage congestion in Shimla during peak hours.
Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh has appealed to citizens to cooperate with security checks, avoid rumours, and report any suspicious activity promptly. The message is clear: while democracy debates inside the Assembly, vigilance outside will ensure peace and order.
