Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi assumed the additional charge of Director CSIR-IHBT Palampur

Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi has been appointed as Director, CSIR-Institute of
Himalayan Bioresource Technologies (IHBT), Palampur, Himachal Pradesh as an
interim arrangement by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR),
New Delhi. Dr. Trivedi is currently the Director of the CSIR-Central Institute of
Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
Dr. Sanjay Kumar, who was the Director of CSIR-IHBT, Palampur has
superannuated on February 28, 2023 after serving CSIR-IHBT for over 33 years at
different positions, with for almost eight years as Director of the institute. Dr. Sanjay
Kumar exhibited exemplary leadership and catapulted this institute to new heights of
accomplishment. His dedication, hard work, and passion for excellence have been
instrumental in fostering linkages with national and international academia and
industries. Besides scientific contributions in Plant Biotechnology and Biochemistry,
Dr Kumar significantly contributed in the empowerment of the farming communities
by introducing Heeng and Monk fruit for the first time in the country, and Saffron,
Dalchini, Liquorice, Stevia, Apple and Tulip in non-traditional areas. His efforts
ushered in Golden Revolution by making Himachal as the top state in the country in
production of essential oil from aromatic marigold. Some of these efforts found
noteworthy appreciation at the highest office, including that from the Honourable
Prime Minister of India.
While assuming the charge as Director of CSIR-IHBT, Dr. Prabhod Kumar Trivedi
appreciated the commendable contributions made by Dr Sanjay Kumar and assured
him to carry forward the present initiatives with full commitments. On this occasion,
heads of different departments of the institute and other senior staff members
applauded his dedication and contribution to different scientific and administration-
related services rendered to the institute.
