District-level Dussehra fair of Junga started with Lanka Dahan

The district-level Dussehra fair in Junga adjacent to the capital started on Tuesday with Lanka Dahan. According to tradition, under the leadership of Khush Vikram Sen, the ruler of the then Keonthal princely state, a procession of Raghunath was taken out from the palace with palanquin musical instruments in which hundreds of people of the area participated. After worshiping them, Lanka was burnt by burning the effigies of Ravana, Kubhakarna, and Meghnad. Hundreds of people enjoyed this scene. There is also a popular belief among the people that seeing the scene of the burning of Lanka does not bring about the wrath of planet Saturn.
Let us tell you that this time there was a lot of confusion regarding the location of the Dussehra fair. The administration had earlier decided to shift the fair venue to the police ground and Lanka Dahan to the taxi stand. After a lot of brainstorming, when the administration could not find a suitable place for the fair, the then-queen mother of Keonthal Risayat, Vijay Jyoti Sen, agreed to organize the fair in the palace premises last night. It should be noted that the Dussehra fair, celebrated in Junga since the princely times, is being celebrated on the premises of the palace for the first time.
Tehsildar Junga and fair officer Ravindra Sisodia said that a huge dance will be organized on October 25 at 2 p.m. Before this, a tug-of-war competition will be organized for women of various Mahila Mandals and self-help groups. All necessary arrangements have been made to maintain law and order at the fair and for the convenience of the people coming to the fair.
On this occasion, BJP leader and Rajmata Vijay Jyoti Sen, Pankaj Sen, local Panchayat head Bansi Lal Kashyap, and other officials of the fair committee were present.
