MP Mobile Health Services Benefit Over 2,000 People During Disaster: Anurag Singh Thakur
Former Union Minister and Member of Parliament from Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, today visited the disaster-stricken areas of Seraj Assembly in Mandi district—Bagasyad, Thunag, and Seraj Bazaar—to console affected families, listen to their grievances, and distribute relief materials. Shri Anurag Singh Thakur inspected the relief and rehabilitation efforts and issued necessary directives to the officials.
Through his personal efforts, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur distributed the following items to schoolchildren in Seraj Assembly today:
- 1,000 school bags
- 2,000 notebooks
- 2,000 pencils
- 1,000 boxes
- 1,000 pens
- 1,000 sharpeners
- 5,000 biscuit packets
- 5,000 protein boxes
- 1,000 clipboards
Shri Anurag Singh Thakur stated, “The scale of the natural disaster in Himachal Pradesh, particularly in Mandi, is devastating. Many people who had built their homes with great effort have been forced to take shelter in public places after their houses were washed away in the rains. The tragedy has caused losses worth thousands of crores, along with severe loss of life and property. In Seraj, former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Shri Jairam Thakur, as the local MLA, visited village after village to assess the situation and provided commendable assistance to the victims. Aid is pouring into Mandi from across the state, and through the MP Mobile Health Service, we have provided medical check-ups, treatment, medicines, and sanitary pads to over 2,000 people. Just on Monday, 338 people benefited from this service. Rehabilitation in disaster-hit areas is our priority, and together, we will soon restore normalcy.”
Shri Anurag Singh Thakur further said, “In this hour of crisis, the BJP family is making every possible effort to help the victims. Given the devastation caused by the disaster, which has shattered homes and livelihoods, I have personally arranged for the distribution of utensils, household essentials, medicines, and sanitary pads to those in need. As part of this initiative, I have distributed school supplies to affected students in Mandi today to share their sorrow and boost their morale. This step has been taken to ensure that their education is not disrupted and their enthusiasm for learning remains undiminished.”
Shri Anurag Singh Thakur added, “During this difficult time, the BJP has continuously worked on the ground to assist people. Whether it is providing ration, utensils, medicines, or medical treatment, we have extended help and will continue to do so. As elected representatives, we have personally contributed to relief efforts and will keep doing so. As far as central assistance is concerned, the Army and NDRF have already been deployed, and the Centre has extended support. Even in past disasters, the central government has always stepped forward—there has never been any shortage of aid, nor will there be in the future. For the affected areas, I am allocating funds from my MP Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), and additional resources will be mobilized through MGNREGA. I have spoken to SDMs and Tehsildars, and the work will be executed through local panchayat heads to prevent further damage to homes and divert water flow. Moving forward, we will conduct surveys to identify areas where retaining walls (crest walls) can be constructed and will raise demands before the government. Additionally, we are discussing long-term measures to divert water channels away from residential areas into natural drains to prevent future flooding.”
