Development in the hilly region is an important aspect of G-20 : Preeti Saran

 Former secretary (EAST) Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and Ambassador on G-20
India Presidency Mrs. Preeti Saran has said that G-20 has a big role in Global Development with its rich
culture and traditions.

Delivering a lecture on G-20 at Himachal Pradesh University here today she said that the hilly regions of India have
protected the Environment and Exhorted the
inhabitants to work for Sustainable Development through a clean and serene Environment. She said that out
of the poverty line many people need to be carried along with all the difficulties for equal opportunities.

She said that 20 leaders representing developing countries visited India to see the development in all spheres
which was largely acknowledged. She disclosed that with the incorporation of university connect HP University
has been taken up under the Gamut of involving young minds.

HPU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. S.P. Bansal in his opening remarks highlighted the role of Indian
Democratic Values in G-20 and ushering in a new era for the group with one earth, one family, and one future.
He said that India the largest democracy has added many feathers to its cap by organizing “Azadi ka Amrit
Mahotsav” program to celebrate India’s 75 years of Independence.

HPU Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rajinder Verma in his special remarks said that India has a significant
role in the development of Social and Moral Values leading to the fast development of the people living
together and unitedly with the motto of oneness. He said that the country has shown good results for good
financial stability through economic growth.

Dean of Studies Prof. Bal Kishan Shivram said that the theme of one family and one future has
realized the objective of Unitedness for the economic growth in the various member countries of G-20.

Prof. Harish Thakur Director Centre for Canadian Studies said that the rich values of oneness with
togetherness for humanism and utmost tolerance has been created for the people living in the G-20 countries
whereas the youths have very important innings to play in view of the growing unrest.
