Deputy Chief Whip Keval Singh Pathania Meets Dalai Lama, Discusses Kangra’s Tourism Prospects

Deputy Chief Whip Onkar Singh Pathania met with Tibetan spiritual leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, at Gaggal Airport on Friday to extend New Year greetings on behalf of the government. During their interaction, the Dalai Lama praised the government’s efforts to transform Dharamshala into a global tourism hub and lauded the expansion of Gaggal Airport as a significant step in enhancing the city’s connectivity.

Pathania shared that the Dalai Lama highlighted how improved infrastructure would help Dharamshala retain its identity as a world-class tourist destination, benefiting both domestic and international visitors, including monks and devotees.

Government’s Commitment to Kangra’s Development
During the hour-long meeting, Pathania informed the Dalai Lama about various developmental initiatives being undertaken by the government. He emphasized the administration’s dedication to establishing Kangra as the tourism capital of Himachal Pradesh. Key projects include promoting water sports at the Pong Dam and developing a world-class zoo, both aimed at boosting local employment opportunities.

Focus on Tourism Infrastructure
Pathania also stressed the importance of enhancing road connectivity to improve access to major tourist attractions. He affirmed that Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is personally overseeing the progress of tourism projects to ensure their timely completion.

The meeting highlighted the government’s commitment to sustainable development and tourism growth in Kangra, aligning with the vision of making the region a global tourism hotspot.
