Denotification of NPA: Medicos go on Pen down strike from Monday
Himachal Pradesh Government denotified the Non-Practice Allowance of Alopathy and non-Alopathy Doctors including Vetnery Officers today have to face the opposition as the latter went on pen down indefinite strike.
On Monday doctors did not attend patients from 9.30 am to 11 am and absorbed pen down strike.
The decision of protesting doctors hampered Medical service as patients in most of the medical colleges and hospitals of the state had to face problems since this morning.
Himachal Medical Officers Association (HMOA) has given a call of pen down strike on denotification of Non-Practice Allowance (NPA) to newly recruited Alopathy, Dental, Ayurvedic, Ayush, and Vetnery doctors.
HMOA has threatened the government to continue the pen-down strike until the NPA not restored.
Most of the doctors however resumed their duty as they returned to the OPD after 11 am but gave duty wearing black badges.
The services of Emergency and Operation Theater continued as before. Doctors alleged that by withholding NPAs, the government used scissors on the financial benefits of the doctors.
Sukhu government, which is facing an economic crisis, has decided to close the NPA of the doctors which may aggravate the confrontation in the future in the Department of Health, Medical Education, Dental and Animal Husbandry.
.Health Minister Dhaniram Shandil has also held a meeting with the doctors regarding this, but the meeting remained inconclusive however deadlock continue as no solution could be found in this.
Dr. Press Secretary of the HMOA Dr. Vijay Ral told that closing NPA is not justified. This will discourage the doctors. He said that if the NPA is not restored, the movement will be intensified.
The association has also demanded the removal of HAS officers posted in all medical colleges. Senior doctors should be appointed in their place. NPA gets 20 percent of the basic salary. Its purpose is to encourage doctors for medical services.
