Delhi wrestler Monu Dehiya won a huge prize money of Rs 1.51 lakh

Over 300 wrestlers displayed their prowess at North India’s famous Talai Chheenj. Thousands of people from various regions enjoyed wrestling until late into the night. After worshipping the local goddess Kali, Deshu, the wrestling began at around 11 p.m. and continued until around 8 p.m. At this Chheenj fair, renowned Delhi wrestler Monu Deiya defeated Pushpendra of Haryana in the final to win a prize of ₹1.51 lakh (1.51 lakh). Similarly, Akash of Chiyog, Dehna, defeated Shubham of Chiyog to win the Shimla Kesari title, claiming a prize of ₹25,000 (25,000). Shubham relinquished the title to Akash after being injured. This competition was for junior wrestlers under the age of 21 and was sponsored by Hira Singh Jagta of Dehna. Wrestlers from Iran and Nepal entertained the audience for decades with their impressive moves.
Haryana’s female wrestler Sonia was the center of attention in this wrestling competition. Her defeat of Saharanpur wrestler Pintu earned her a standing ovation. Renowned wrestler and social worker Nahar Singh Chaudhary attended the fair as the chief guest.
Dinesh Jagta, head of the local Panchayat and Fair Committee, said that this year, to mark the completion of 100 years of the fair, the fair was celebrated as the Centenary Chhinj Fair, which was organized in memory of the late Karam Singh Highlander.
