Cyclone Montha Roars Toward Andhra Coast, But Himachal Stays Calm and Sunny
As Cyclone Mountha barrels toward the Andhra Pradesh coastline with winds expected to reach 110 km/h, several states are bracing for impact. But up in the hills of Himachal Pradesh, it’s a different story—clear skies, crisp air, and no cyclone-related worries.
Mountha’s Path and Power
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Cyclone Mountha is likely to make landfall near Kakinada between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam on Tuesday evening or night. The storm could bring torrential rain and fierce winds to coastal Andhra, prompting authorities to issue alerts and cancel travel services.
Trains Cancelled, Routes Diverted
In anticipation of the cyclone’s fury, South Central Railway has cancelled 72 trains scheduled between October 27 and 30. Several routes have also been diverted, and air travel disruptions are expected in the region.
Meanwhile in Himachal: Sunshine and Serenity
Back in Himachal Pradesh, meteorologists say the cyclone won’t touch the hill state. “There will be no impact from Cyclone Mountha in Himachal,” said Sandeep Kumar Sharma from the Meteorological Centre in Shimla. “The weather will remain clear until November 2. After that, higher altitudes may see light snowfall and some districts could get light rain.”
For now, the sun is shining across Himachal’s valleys and towns. The past 24 hours have seen dry conditions, with temperatures holding steady. Keylong recorded the lowest at -0.1°C, while Una warmed up to a pleasant 33°C.
What’s Ahead for Himachal
The forecast for the next few days suggests no major changes in temperature. Both daytime highs and nighttime lows are expected to stay within normal ranges, offering locals and tourists a peaceful weather window.
A Tale of Two States
While Andhra Pradesh prepares for a stormy night, Himachal Pradesh enjoys a calm stretch of autumn weather. It’s a reminder of India’s diverse climate—where one region can be battling nature’s fury, and another basking in its tranquility.
Stay safe if you’re in the cyclone’s path, and if you’re in Himachal, maybe step outside and enjoy the sunshine while it lasts.
