Cybercrime Has No Borders: Himachal Police Stations Are Ready to Fight Back
In a major step toward protecting citizens from the growing menace of online fraud and digital threats, Himachal Pradesh Police has launched cyber desks in every police station across the state. This move makes Himachal only the second state in North India, after Haryana, to offer such a facility statewide—bringing cybercrime reporting closer to the people.
Whether it’s identity theft, banking fraud, cyberstalking, or the misuse of social media, victims can now walk into their nearest police station and get help immediately. Each cyber desk is staffed with trained personnel who will file complaints directly on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP), ensuring faster investigations and stronger action against offenders.
The initiative covers all 138 police stations in Himachal. Until now, many cases were delayed due to lack of technical know-how at the local level. But with this new setup, victims no longer need to travel to district headquarters or wait for specialized teams—they can get support right where they live.
To further strengthen the system, Integrated Cyber Crime Extension Units have been established in every police district. These units will work under the Himachal Cyber Crime Coordination Center (HIM 4C), offering technical expertise for complex cases.
Police officials say the goal is simple: make cybercrime reporting easy, accessible, and effective. With online scams rising sharply, this move is expected to boost public confidence and help law enforcement stay one step ahead of digital criminals.
In today’s connected world, cybercrime can strike anyone, anywhere. Himachal’s new cyber desks are a timely reminder that justice must evolve with technology—and now, it’s doing just that.
