Counseling Session Held Under Samarthya Program at Government College, Amb

As part of the Una District Administration’s special initiative ‘Samarthya,’ a counseling session was conducted on Tuesday at Maharana Pratap Government Post Graduate College, Amb, for female students preparing for civil services examinations by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC). Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal provided key tips and guidance to the students on passing civil services and other competitive exams. The session saw the participation of around 300 students.

Jatin Lal motivated the students by sharing his experiences, providing insights on subject selection and syllabus, and addressing their exam-related queries. He emphasized the importance of persistent and dedicated efforts in the right direction with the correct mindset to achieve success.

Following the program, Jatin Lal explained that the Una District Administration is focusing on six major components under the Samarthya program for the welfare and upliftment of youth and women, one of which is guiding youth for competitive exams. The program aims to cover every aspect of passing UPSC, HPPSC civil services, and other competitive exams.

He pointed out that many youths often face difficulties due to a lack of proper information regarding these exams, leading to confusion and challenges. Due to insufficient knowledge about exam subjects and study materials, students often waste time searching for resources. The administration’s goal is to address these issues by listening to their problems and providing solutions, including assistance with financial difficulties and mental health challenges. Efforts are being made under the Samarthya program to achieve this.

Financial Assistance of up to 2 Lakhs for Higher Education of Economically Weaker Girls

The Deputy Commissioner also announced that under the Samarthya program, financial assistance will be provided to eligible girls from economically weaker sections for higher education. The district administration has decided to bear the education expenses of 25 needy girls from poor families. The eligible girls will include those whose fathers have passed away or are more than 70% disabled. Applicants must be residents of Una district, not have benefited from any other scheme, and have a family income of ₹50,000 or less per annum. Selected girls will receive financial aid of up to ₹2 lakhs for their degree or higher education. In the first phase, 25 girls will be selected based on their marks and academic qualifications.

Dedicated Efforts for Youth Empowerment through ‘Samarthya’

Jatin Lal outlined the six key components of the Samarthya program, which focuses on fitness, competitiveness, art and culture, entrepreneurship, awareness and control, and the promotion of social values. Under the first component, fitness, the program aims to prevent youth from substance abuse and channel their energy positively by establishing open gymnasiums, sports grounds, yoga courts, and community sports events at the panchayat level. The second component, competitiveness, includes helping students prepare for competitive exams, with support for UPSC coaching, higher education scholarships, reading rooms, and army entrance exam preparation. The third component, art and culture, will promote craft, cultural centers, festivals, tours, and language courses. The fourth component, entrepreneurship, will focus on livelihood centers, job fairs, self-help group support, and agricultural modernization. The fifth component, awareness and control, will work on anti-drug campaigns, cleanliness drives, environmental protection, and malnutrition eradication. Lastly, the sixth component, social value promotion, will focus on women empowerment, value-based education camps, blood donation camps, and community service activities.

The event was attended by Principal Darshan Kumar, Vice Principal Rekha Sharma, college staff, and students.
