Construction work of Kanwati bridge hangs in balance due to non-receipt of funds
The work of the bridge being constructed at Kanwati on the Nalatdi Khad flowing on the border of Peeran Panchayat of Mashobra Block and Theog Tehsil is hanging in balance for the last one and a half years due to non-receipt of funds from the government. Only pillars have been erected in this ravine. Due to which the residents of Batola and other adjoining villages are worried about crossing the Nalatdi in the rainy season. Let us tell you that during the rainy season when the Nalatdi Khad is in full spate, the people of these villages cross it by risking their lives.
Let us tell you that the people of villages Batola, Nalta, Meemu, Nat etc. of Peeran Panchayat have been crossing the overflowing ravine risking their lives during rains for the past several decades. Especially the people of Batola village have their gharaat, ghashni and pastures etc. located on the other side of the ravine. Apart from this, the people of Peeran Panchayat have relatives in Theog tehsil and many villages of Sirmaur district bordering it, where people keep visiting frequently.
Many villagers including Jagdish, Khyali Ram, Prem Singh, Suresh Kumar, Kripa Ram, Jai Singh, Rajendra, Chamanlal, Sunila Devi, Sheetal Devi, Sarishta Devi, Manta Devi, Doshi Devi, Geeta Devi, Meena Devi, Maina Devi, Gayatri Devi, all residents of Batola have demanded the government to release funds to complete this incomplete bridge. Apart from this, the condition of the road from Batola to Nalatdi Khad has also become pathetic, demand has been made to repair it.
The contractor of this bridge, Atar Singh Thakur, told that an estimate of Rs. 13 lakh has been made by DRDA for this bridge. Out of which the first installment of Rs. 5 lakh was received with which the pillars have been erected. The work will be completed after receiving the second installment.
