Cong seeks early Assembly poll in Himachal

Opposition   Congress demanded early Assembly Election in Himachal Pradesh owing to onset of early winter and snowfall in the high altitude areas of the state. A delegation met with Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar in Shimla who is on the state visit along with 11 members Election Commission team.   State Congress Committee secretary Sushant Kapreet on Friday said that he had urged the ECI to not delay the Election till hard  winter condition.  Any delay in holding Election might create hurdles late as it is not possible to hold elections in Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba, Shimla and Kullu districts.  In such a situation, it is necessary to conduct early elections in the state.  By holding early elections in the state, the misuse of government money by the BJP government would also be stopped. Seeking cognizance of  BJP government which is trying to woo the voters by making big announcements at the last minute, while no budget provision has been made for them.  The Congress also demanded immediate transfer of the officers who had stayed at one place for a long time.  Congress alleges that these officers are acting like political agents, in such a situation these officers should be changed immediately so that elections can be possible in the state in a transparent manner. It also demanded  that EVMs to be used for assembly elections should be taken proper security measures and kept under tight security. He said that in the areas where there has been a rapid increase in the number of voters was found ,the Commission should make elaborate arrangements of security. The commission has also been urged to put a stop to fake and double voters. Congress delegation is comprised of Sushant Kaparate, Congress General Secretary Yashpal Tanik and Secretary Tarun Pathak
