COMs gives nod to revive Himachal State Administrative Tribunal

Himachal Pradesh Council of Ministers on Saturday gave the nod to revive the State Administrative Tribunal and decided to create five posts in the proposed SAT including four members including chairmen two administrative and one judicial field member.

Addressing media persons on Saturday after the cabinet meeting Industry Minister Harsh Vardhan Chauhan informed about this cabinet decision.

He said that the government has proposed to reinstate the SAT administrative Tribunal will be reinstated to quickly decide the more than 15000 cases pending before the Himachal Pradesh High Court as the previous government closed down the SAT and brought the adjudication of administrative cases within the ambit of Himachal Pradesh High court.

He said that to reinstate the SAT COM sanctioned 5 posts including the Chairman, three other members, and a Registrar.

Soon after coming to the previous BJP govt dissolved the tribunal in 2019 after bringing amendments to the HP State Administrative Tribunal Act. The staff members of the former SAT also merged in the High Court of Himachal Pradesh and more than 21000 cases were transferred to Himachal Pradesh High Court.  At that time Congress opposed it within the Assembly and also made promises in the last assembly elections to revive it after coming to power.

Different groups of employees are on different pages to disband or revive SAT however state government now forwards the proposal to the centre to get final nods on this decision.
