Committee Formed to Assess Chilanthi Damage

In the wake of concerning cracks appearing in homes due to ongoing forelane construction in Chilanthi, the district administration has moved swiftly to support affected residents.

Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap acted immediately upon receiving the information late at night, ensuring families were safely evacuated from the at-risk houses. He has personally assured that the district administration is providing all possible assistance to those impacted. As a safety measure, all construction work on the forelane has been completely halted.

To understand the full scope of the situation and plan the way forward, a dedicated committee has been formed. It will be chaired by SDM Shimla Rural, Manjit Sharma, and is tasked with carefully assessing the damage to each affected home. The committee aims to submit its detailed report within a week, which will be crucial in advancing the compensation process for homeowners.

Alongside this effort, the State Geologist has also begun an independent investigation to determine the precise causes of the damage and is expected to provide findings within the same timeframe.

Demonstrating the administration’s commitment, Deputy Commissioner Kashyap visited the site in Chaunthi to inspect the damage firsthand. He interacted with the affected families, listening to their concerns and reiterating his promise of full support.

Senior officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi and ADM Law & Order Pankaj Sharma, were also present during the visit, underscoring the coordinated response to this incident.
