Cold wave expected in Himachal with snowfall likely to increase chill
Himachal Pradesh is preparing for a wave of cooler weather as a western disturbance is expected to activate soon, likely bringing snowfall to the region in the coming days. Despite nearing the end of October, the winter chill has yet to fully set in across the state. While mornings and evenings in the hill regions have a dry, cool feel, daytime temperatures continue to offer a sense of warmth. As November approaches, the prolonged dry weather has kept daytime temperatures four to six degrees above the seasonal average, with many areas still experiencing highs over 30°C.
In the plains, daytime temperatures are around 34°C due to the ongoing dry conditions, while tribal areas are recording temperatures close to or below freezing. Tabo in Lahaul-Spiti was the coldest spot today, with a minimum of -0.4°C, while Kukumseri recorded 1.4°C. Una’s maximum temperature reached 34°C yesterday, showcasing the contrasting climate conditions across Himachal Pradesh.
