Clear skies until September 24, Snowfall on the higher peaks

Himachal Pradesh is set to enjoy clear skies until September 24, with a slight rise in temperature expected due to the pleasant weather. However, from June 1 to September 18, the state experienced 18% less rainfall than usual, with regions like Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Una, and Hamirpur receiving below-average precipitation.

As the monsoon begins to wind down, rain showers have become a rare occurrence across the state. Thursday saw bright sunshine across all areas, including Shimla, and similar weather is expected to continue. The Meteorological Department forecasts minimal weather changes in the days ahead.

While temperatures are likely to rise slightly by September 24, a yellow alert has been issued for some parts of the state on September 25. Over the last 24 hours, minimum temperatures have remained stable, though maximum temperatures have dipped slightly. Overall, average minimum temperatures have been normal, but the maximum temperatures have been lower than usual.

Rainfall has been below average for most of Himachal, with Shimla recording the highest monsoon showers. Una, Lahaul-Spiti, and Chamba, on the other hand, saw below-normal rainfall in September. The monsoon is expected to start retreating from September 24, marking an overall drier season than expected.

Snowfall on the higher peaks

On a more exciting note, snowfall on the higher peaks, including Rohtang Pass in Lahaul, has brought chilly weather to the region. Temperatures have dropped as a result, and the peaks of Lahaul-Spiti and Manali are now covered in a pristine blanket of snow. This snowfall has not only cooled down the hill stations but may also attracted tourists in large numbers.
