IGMC Contract Workers Union related CITU held a strong silent demonstration outside IGMC Shimla against the firing of 31 security personnel of IGMC. After the demonstration, the union delegation had talks with the IGMC management which lasted for about four hours. The union has warned that if the fired security personnel are not taken back, the agitation will intensify.

CITU State President Vijendra Mehra and Union President Devraj Bablu said that the black laws of the British era are still continuing in IGMC. The hire and fire policy continues here and by flouting the law, 31 security personnel have been thrown out of their jobs. This is also a violation of Section 33 of the Industrial Disputes Act 1947, which declares union-led workers as protected employees. He said that the decision to fire 31 security personnel was illegal. It should be withdrawn immediately. If this is not done then there will be a strike in IGMC. He said that the security personnel are being mentally tortured in IGMC. They are being fired from the job after changing the contractor, which is a clear violation of the agreement made by the IGMC management with the union and Section 25H of the Industrial Disputes Act. IGMC management, along with the new contractor, is openly disregarding labor laws. Labor laws have been violated in the re-appointment of security personnel working for the last several years. Section 25H of the Industrial Disputes Act 1947 is being flouted. The affidavit that is being taken from the security personnel by the new outsourced company shows unfair labor practices. This is a violation of the Fifth Schedule and Section 25U of the Industrial Disputes Act 1947. The Contract Labor Act 1970 is being flouted on a large scale by the major employer IGMC management. He has demanded that the IGMC management should re-appoint all the security personnel to the new contractor on the lines of ward attendants and sanitation workers. He has warned that if all the security personnel are not reassigned, the agitation will intensify.
