CM inaugurates State Agricultural Marketing Board Complex constructed at a cost of 6.45 Cr

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today inaugurated the Himachal Pradesh State Agricultural Marketing Board’s complex constructed at Khalini at a cost of Rs.6 crore 45 lakh.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the foundation stone of this building was laid by him during the tenure of the present State Government in the year 2020 and today this building is completely ready. He said that the State Government is constantly striving for the upliftment of farmers and gardeners and to increase their crop productivity, so that their economy can be strengthened.

He said that the State Agricultural Marketing Board is doing commendable work to get fair price for their produce to the farmers and gardeners of the state. Through the Agriculture Marketing Board, the State Government is providing basic facilities and services to the farmers and gardeners to sell their produce. He said that the state government has constructed new vegetable markets and expanded the old ones in the state at a cost of about Rs 242 crore. He said that special emphasis is being laid on setting up cold stores in the state. Farmers and gardeners are also being benefited through cold stores.

Jai Ram Thakur said that the government has taken effective steps in this direction to ensure that the farmers get fair price for their produce and sell their crops near their area. He said that small vegetable collection centers and market yards are being set up at many places. He said that a total of 10 mandis are functional at the district level under the Agricultural Marketing Board and marketing facilities are being provided to the farmers through the sub-mandis.

He said that giving highest priority to the welfare of farmers, the State Government is giving subsidy on purchase of fertilizers, equipment and seeds to encourage agriculture. He said that schemes like Krishi Se Sampanna Yojana, Krishi Produce Protection Scheme, Chief Minister Green House Renewal Scheme are also being run for the upliftment of farmers in the state. Many ambitious schemes sponsored by the Central Government are also being successfully implemented in the state, due to which positive changes are coming in the lives of the farmers of the state and their economy is also being strengthened by increasing the yield.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government has extended all possible help to the farmers and gardeners even during the Kovid period. Farmers and gardeners got good prices of fruits even in this difficult period and no market remained closed. During this, all kinds of facilities were provided to the farmers and gardeners.

On this occasion, Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Agriculture Minister Virendra Kanwar, State Agricultural Marketing Board Chairman Baldev Singh Bhandari, APMC Chairman Naresh Sharma along with senior officers and officials and other dignitaries were present.
