Breakthrough against Drug peddlers in Shimla District

In the last 4 weeks Shimla Police have Launched massive action against drug peddlers. It has resulted in the registration of  100 case in just 23 days and the  arrest of around 128 peddlers.

Among these peddlers’ majority are retailers, supplying drugs and working as crucial links in the supply chain. This drug menace is causing grave harm to the health and peace of the society. It is also harming the youth who get addicted to drugs or spurious substances. The police is working very hard to reach the main suppliers of the drug trail.

During investigations of cases under police subdivision Rampur, huge drug trail of money has been identified thus leading to the busting of an interstate drug peddler’s racket. During police investigation backward linkages were established. One main supplier was identified having deep links with the drug peddlers of Shimla region. Approximately 55 lakh rupees has been detected in one of the accounts, investigation showed that it was earned  through drug peddling activities.

Under ND&PS Act police freezed this account of rupees approx. 55 lakhs (Fifty-Five Lakhs) of drug money earned through illegal trade. This is breakthrough in the field of catching of drug peddlers, in recent times. The peddlers have been running nefarious activities in the Shimla area and spreading the drugs epidemic in the remote villages. Police has caught 15 suppliers who are connected to this individual inter- state supplier. These all suppliers are now in the police custody. Hopefully more financial breakthrough is expected in the times to come.

SDPO Rampur Sh. Chander Sekhar HPS is one of the Star investigators, who did breakthrough in busting the money trail. A very different and difficult investigation by probing e- Transactions like “Google Pay” and similar methods.

Further, it is important to share that the police have sent more than 70 persons, who are addicts for rehabilitation program with counselling of the parents and guardians.

Important is, many youngsters who fell into drug addiction for any reason are now becoming police great assets for source of information on drug trail.
