Blood Donation Camp Successfully Organized at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study; 40 Units Collected
A one-day blood donation camp was successfully organized today at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Rashtrapati Nivas, Shimla, as part of the Institute’s 60th Foundation Year. The camp was held in collaboration with the Blood Bank Department of Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, and the blood collection team was led by Dr. Tahseen Mushtaq. The team included Dr. Sudhir, Dr. Aastha Sharma, Mrs. Babita Sharma, Ms. Renu, and other staff members, all of whom played an active role in the smooth conduct of the camp.
The camp commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Mehar Chand Negi, Secretary of the Institute, who encouraged the IIAS community to participate in the noble cause of blood donation. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Institute’s Resident Medical Officer, Dr. Meenu Agrawal, who appreciated the contributions of the IGMC team, the Institute’s administration, and all the blood donors. The event was coordinated by the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Akhilesh Pathak.
National Fellows, Tagore Fellows, Fellows, Associate Fellows, officers, and staff members participated in the camp with great enthusiasm, contributing a total of 40 units of blood. The collected blood was handed over to the IGMC Blood Bank for future therapeutic use.
The camp reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to social responsibility and demonstrated how collective efforts can make a meaningful contribution to the health and well-being of society.
