BJP workers revolt against offering tickets to Congress dissidents in Himachal

Bharatiya Janata party workers and former MLAs who had lost assembly elections in 2022 started a revolt against the decision of the saffron Party to offer tickets to dissidents Six Congress former MLAs.

Former BJP Minister from Lahaul Spiti district Ram Lal Markandeya announced in a public meeting that he would fight assembly elections against the official BJP candidate Ravi Thakur who joined BJP on Saturday.

Dr. Ramlal Markanda said that he would contest the by-elections under any circumstances. If needed, we could join Congress to contest against Ravi Thakur.

 Dr. Markanda said that he would not tolerate the corrupt under any circumstances and would not allow him to move forward even if he is ready to leave politics. 

Dr. Markanda stated that he would soon resign from the party. Along with him, the entire district executive will also tender mass resignation.

”  Every worker is disappointed and disheartened by the decision of the high command,” Markanda said giving indications of rebellion in the Saffron Party.

 BJP election selection committee has announced tickets for by-elections on six assembly seats of Himachal Pradesh including Mr Ravi Thakur from Lahaul Spiti district. 

Dr. Markanda is a three-time MLA and two-time minister from Lahaul Spiti. He had been the Agriculture Minister in the previous Jairam government.

Responding over the current development Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu said that the BJP tried to upset the Congress government but now facing revolt from its dedicated workers

He said that many former BJP MLAs including Dr. Ramlal Markanda, and Rakesh Kalia are feeling suffocated within the party and are in touch with Congress to join it soon.

On the other hand, in Nalagarh also, supporters of former MLA Lakhwinder Rana got angry after the entry of former MLA KL Thakur in the BJP. 

Rana’s supporters expressed their anger in front of BJP state president Rajeev Bindal and district president Ratan Pal Singh today.

Former Minister Verinder Kanwar also skipped the Jai Ram Thakur public meeting at the Kutlehar assembly and stated that he had conveyed his inability to Mr Thakur yesterday. 

Mr. Kanwar who is a strong loyalist to former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal told media persons today that the party’s local committee has urged the party high command to reconsider the decision of the ticket allotted to Congress dissident Devinder Bhutto. He said that he would work on the decision of his support and BJP local unit.

Meanwhile, former BJP candidate Ranjeet from Sujanpur Tira decided to fight the upcoming bye-election against the Congress dissident Rajinder Rana as an Independent candidate as BJP has given a ticket to Rana today.

It seems that the BJP may face a revolt from the party candidates in all six assembly constituencies as disqualified MLAs were given ticket ignoring the interest of party dedicated workers by the BJP Chunav Chaiyan Samiti.
