BJP stages a massive rally in Dharamshala today, denouncing three years of Congress misrule
To mark the completion of three years of the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party Himachal Pradesh organized a historic and massive protest at Zorawar Stadium, Dharamshala.
Opposition leader Jairam Thakur, speaking at a BJP rally in Dharamshala, delivered a sharp critique of the Sukhu government, accusing it of neglecting people-focused initiatives and disregarding public grievances. He asserted that in its three years in power, the Congress administration had “not introduced a single welfare scheme,” leaving citizens across Himachal Pradesh clamoring for the revival of earlier benefits instead of seeking new ones.
“Three years of system collapse, change the corrupt Congress government.” Thousands of people and workers who gathered sent a clear message that the people of Himachal will no longer tolerate this government of lies, corruption, and misrule.
BJP state in-charge Shrikant Sharma began his address with “Radhe-Radhe,” sharply criticizing the Chief Minister’s anti-Sanatan mentality. He said that Sanatan culture is not inherited by anyone; it is the faith of millions of people. He held up a mirror to Congress’s 2022 promises and asked the public:
“Did women get 1500 rupees? Did milk purchases increase? Did young people get jobs?”
The entire ground echoed in one voice – “Nothing was found!”
He said that the Congress government is dishonest, false and deceitful, which came to power on false promises.
Referring to the Rs 5,500 crore and additional Rs 1,500 crore given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Himachal during the disaster, he said that while the Centre provided ample help, the Congress only played politics.
State President Dr. Rajiv Bindal said that this was not a rally, but an outburst of public anger against the Congress party’s misrule. He said that the Congress, which came to power in the name of “system change,” has destroyed the entire system in Himachal. He alleged that democracy was being murdered by setting up blockades at various places to stop BJP workers. He said that the Congress government has done injustice to the entire state, including Kangra. Land is being sold, a conspiracy is being hatched to dismantle the Central University, and youth have been deprived of employment and women have been deprived of respect.
Former Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that this government is not about development, but about pleasure and corruption. Pensioners and employees are being ridiculed. He called the Congress party an “army of Kauravas,” saying that this government is leading the country towards destruction. He said that Congress snatched the special state status given by BJP, stopped central projects and could not even provide basic facilities in districts like Sirmaur. He declared that all 10 guarantees of Congress, Rahul Gandhi’s “Khatakhat model” and all the promises of Priyanka Gandhi have completely failed.
BJP co-incharge Sanjay Tandon said that this isn’t a crowd, but a public outcry against the Congress government. Not a single guarantee has been fulfilled in three years; the public has only been duped. Unemployment, inflation, corruption, and lawlessness have become the hallmarks of Himachal today. He said that the countdown of the Congress government has started and now its departure from power is certain.
Former State President Suresh Kashyap, MP Dr. Rajiv Bhardwaj, Indu Goswami, Dr. Sikandar Kumar, Former Assembly Speaker Vipin Parmar, State General Secretary Bihari Lal Sharma, Sanjeev Katwal, Payal, Sudhir Sharma, Trilok Kapoor, all BJP MLAs, office bearers and workers were present in this protest.
