Best Presentation Award for KVK Solan Scientist Dr Aarti Shukla


Dr Aarti Shukla, a senior scientist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Solan at Kandaghat bagged the best presentation award during the Annual Zonal Workshop of Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI) Zone 1. Dr Shukla bagged the first prize among all the 13 KVKs of Himachal for her presentation of KVK activities. The KVK Solan is managed by Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni.

The workshop was jointly organized by ICAR ATARI Ludhiana and GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar at Uttaranchal University, Dehradun. Seventy two KVKs of Zone 1 participated in the workshop. The inaugural session was graced by Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan, VC, GBPUAT Pantnagar, Dr Parvinder Kaushal, VC, UUHF Bharsar and ADG (AE) ICAR, New Delhi. Overall, there were 7 technical sessions , two joint sessions and 7 parallel sessions. In the first joint session, Director extension of eight universities gave presentations on technological backstopping to KVKs and innovative initiatives in extension taken by SAUs. There were 8 expert lectures from scientists and entrepreneurs across India. In the parallel technical sessions, heads and scientists of 72 KVKs presented an annual progress report of their respective Kendra along with a future action plan.

The workshop was also attended by Dr Inder Dev, Director Extension of the university who gave a presentation on technological backstopping provided by the directorate to the KVKs during 2022 and shared the new initiatives taken by the directorate since Covid.

Presentation delivered by Dr Arti Shukla was adjudged as the best among the KVKs of Himachal Pradesh  wherein she highlighted the work of KVK Solan on popularization of natural farming, mushroom cultivation, use of mulch in fruit and vegetable crops, integrated nutrient management in tomato and capsicum and eco-friendly approaches for the management of diseases and insect pests in apple and vegetable crops. The KVK is also working towards popularization of improved varieties of oilseed and pulse crops, millets, demonstration on agri drone and formation of two FPOs for Kandaghat and Dhrampur blocks.  During the last day of the workshop, statewise best KVK and best presentation awards were given by Renu Singh, Director and VC Forest Research Institute, Dehradun.  

Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, UHF Vice Chancellor congratulated Dr Aarti for bringing laurels to the university and the KVK by showcasing the activities of the station. Dr Inder Dev, Director Extension Education and Dr Jitender Chauhan, Coordinator KVK Solan and all the scientists of the station also congratulated Dr Aarti.
