CITU State President Vijender Mehra, District General Secretaries ND Ranaut, Om Dutt Sharma, Mohit Verma and Daljit Singh while addressing the protesters alleged that the labor office of BBN is working at the behest of industrialists and verifying the unions for many years. I am reluctant. Due to this poor and biased functioning of the labor office, it has become almost impossible for the laborers to register their union. The Labor Department has completely sat in the lap of the authoroties and the laborers’ hopes of getting justice have ended. The demands of the workers have also been gathering dust in the files of the labor offices for years. Industrialists are making the laborers suffer due to the poor functioning and connivance of the labor office. They are being fired for forming a union or they are being transferred out of the state. Company and contract laborers are being fully exploited by the owners but the labor department is silent. The officials of the Labor Department are shirking their duty by merely conducting inspections and are not taking any action on the violation of labor laws by the company managements. He has warned that if the demands of the workers are not resolved immediately, then the workers of BBN will stage a massive demonstration in BBN on March 15.
