Baisakhi fair started with the procession of Shirgul deity

The three-day district level Baisakhi fair started on Sunday in Rajgarh with the procession of Shirgul Devta, the revered deity of this region. Hundreds of people from the region participated in it. Before this, traditional worship and havan yagya of Shirgul Devta was performed at the temple located in Rajgarh. Deputy Commissioner Sirmaur Sumit Khimtta participated in it. The procession started from the temple premises and reached Nehru Maidan via the old bus stand and from there returned to the temple. On the entire route, devotees kept dancing with the chanting of Shirgul Maharaj ki Jai.
Thereafter, Deputy Commissioner Sirmour Sumit Khimta, as the chief guest, officially inaugurated the fair by lighting the lamp at Nehru Ground. On this occasion, all the special guests were honored in the temple premises by the temple committee. In his address, Deputy Commissioner Khimta said that Baisakhi fair of Rajgarh is one of the ancient and famous fairs of the state. This fair is a symbol of regional folk culture, religious faith and social unity. He further said that it is necessary to maintain the ancient dignity of such fairs. He prayed to Shirgul Maharaj to maintain his mercy on all the residents of the region.
Earlier, Fair Committee Chairman and SDM Rajgarh Rajkumar Thakur welcomed the chief guest and said that during the three-day fair, cultural evenings would be organized every day in which famous artists of Himachal Pradesh would entertain the people with their performances.
On the occasion of the inauguration of the fair, local artists including children from Gurukul Peach Valley, Dassan Public School, S Vine School presented attractive cultural programmes which included folk dances, songs and traditional performances.
On this occasion, Municipal Council President Jyoti Sahni, Tehsildar Umesh Sharma, Executive Engineer Public Works Department Pawan Garg, Assistant Engineer Himanshu Sharma, Deputy Tehsildar Sushant Kumar, Vivek Sharma, Vikram Jaildar, Dinesh Arya, Ajay Chauhan, Councilor Suman Chauhan and many other dignitaries were present.
