Auckland House School for Girls Conducts Second Phase of Cervical Cancer Vaccination Drive at IGMC Shimla

Auckland House School for Girls successfully conducted the second dose of its Cervical Cancer Vaccination Drive at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), continuing its strong commitment toward preventive healthcare for young girls. This phase covered a total of 42 students above the age of 14 — 35 received the Nonavalent HPV Vaccine (Gardasil-9) and 7 received the Quadrivalent Vaccine (Gardasil-4).

This drive follows the school’s pioneering initiative held earlier this year in August, where more than 120 girls aged 9 and above were administered their first dose of the HPV vaccine. The campaign originally stemmed from a comprehensive health awareness workshop conducted by renowned gynecologist Dr. Alok Sharma, who sensitised parents, teachers, and students about the importance of HPV vaccination in preventing cervical cancer — one of the most common cancers affecting women in India.

Principal Mrs. Smaraki Samantaroy expressed pride in the initiative, stating: “At Auckland House School, the well-being of our children is of utmost priority. Providing vaccination at a concessional rate reflects our commitment to safeguarding their health, not profit. When a woman is healthy, she becomes the strength of an entire family and society.”

She extended sincere appreciation to the dedicated medical team at IGMC for their support in ensuring the smooth execution of the drive.

This continued effort highlights Auckland House School’s vision of nurturing responsible and aware future citizens by integrating academic excellence with holistic health, empowerment, and social responsibility.
