Anurag Thakur Slams State Leadership Over Financial Missteps Highlighted in CAG Report

Former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Singh Thakur has voiced strong criticism against the Himachal Pradesh government following the release of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report for 2023–24 in the state Assembly.

Calling the report a “bundle of failures,” Thakur accused the Congress-led administration of steering the state toward economic instability. “From the day they took office, it’s been one anti-people decision after another,” he said, expressing concern over what he described as the government’s indifference to the state’s financial health.

Thakur pointed to the return of over ₹1,024 crore to the Centre, funds that were meant for development but allegedly went unused. He argued this reflects poor financial planning and a lack of commitment to progress.

He also criticized the government’s reliance on supplementary budgets, claiming that many original allocations remain untouched. “The CAG report shows that not a single rupee was spent on 40 sanctioned projects. This is not just inefficiency—it’s a betrayal of public trust,” Thakur said.

In closing, he questioned the government’s seriousness in implementing development schemes, warning that such mismanagement could have long-term consequences for the state’s growth and welfare.
