Bharat Vikas Parishad celebrated National Engineer’s Day, paid tribute to Bharat Ratna M Visvesvaraya Palampur
Bharat Vikas Parishad branch Palampur paid tribute to Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya on the occasion of ‘National Engineer’s Day’ at Hotel T-Bud Palampur. On this occasion, an environmental seminar was also organized on the topic “Natural Disaster and its Impact on Himachal Pradesh” in which Prof. Arun Kumar, retired geologist of Manipur University and member of the high level committee constituted by the Home Ministry to study natural disasters in Himachal, was the keynote speaker. In his address, Prof. Arun explained the importance of climate change and environmental imbalance along with other reasons for natural disasters like cloudburst, heavy rainfall and landslides. He said that since 2018, 148 cloudburst incidents have been reported in the Himalayan state and about 294 incidents of floods in rivers have occurred while more than 5000 landslides have occurred. He said that it is necessary to pre-assess the incidents of cloudburst in Himachal so that the damage caused by disasters can be reduced. He said that in this, the responsibility of environmentalists and engineers increases further that they should keep in mind the impact and study of natural disasters while making future plans. He said that this year The theme of National Engineers Day is based on three points: innovation, sustainable development and digital transformation.
On this occasion, E Ajay Sharma gave detailed information on the life of Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya and explained in detail about National Engineer’s Day.
Branch President Kushal Katoch welcomed all the guests while Regional Coordinator Environment Activity Manoj Ratna informed about the efforts being made by Bharat Vikas Parishad for environmental protection. During this, ESK Sharma, E Ajay Sharma, Architect Anoop Dhiman, Anilendra Katoch, Jaisiram Bhandral, Vijay Sharma were felicitated.
