Allegations of Closed Drain Chambers in Institute Premises Are Baseless

The Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS) refutes the news published in some local newspapers claiming that “water is seeping underground due to the closure of 8 drain chambers in the Advanced Study premises.” The institute clarifies that the drainage, drains, and chambers within its premises are regularly maintained and cleaned through the Central Public Works Department (CPWD). Officials from the CPWD, Shimla Division, have also raised objections to this baseless report.

It is noteworthy that these newspapers published the unfounded report about water seepage due to closed drain chambers without seeking the institute’s perspective.

Additionally, due to the damaged road from Balu Ganj to Chaura Maidan via Deepak Project, the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS) has opened its internal road from the Balu Ganj Gate to the Gorkha Gate during the day for emergency vehicles and pedestrians until the road repairs are completed, to facilitate public convenience.
