All classes should be given equal opportunity in Panchayat roster- Shakti Ram Kashyap
The notification issued by the state government for preparing the reservation roster in view of the upcoming Panchayati Raj elections has been welcomed by the Koli Samaj Kuspanti constituency. The president of Koli Samaj, Shakt Ram Kashyap has requested the government that while preparing the roster, there should be no partiality or tampering due to any kind of political pressure, but every category should be given equal opportunity. He said that according to the roster, after every five years, all the categories i.e. general, general women category, Scheduled Caste category, Scheduled Caste women category, tribal and OBC should be given a chance sequentially.
Accusing bias in the Panchayat roster, he said that in the Peeran Panchayat of Mashobra Block, in the last 50 years, the Scheduled Caste men have not got a chance to become the Panchayat Pradhan, whereas according to the 2011 census, the population of the Scheduled Caste category in this Panchayat has been estimated to be 57 percent. He said that Peeran Panchayat was formed in the year 1974. In the last 50 years, the general category got the opportunity to become the Pradhan for 40 years. Although two times Scheduled Caste women became Panchayat Pradhan, but the men have not got the chance till date. He said that like Peeran Panchayat, there must be many such Panchayats in the state where the roster must be tampered with due to political pressure.
