AICC directs Congress block committees to take care of all development work in the constituency of disqualified MLAs

The People Belonging to Sujanpur, Badsar, Gagret, Lahaul Spiti and Kutlehar assembly constituencies have been feeling helpless after the disqualification of their respective MLAs by Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania since February 29.

According to the state government instructions respective blook Congress president in Dharmshala, Sujanpur, Badsar Gagret Lahaul Spiti, and Kutlehar assembly constituencies were authorized to facilitate the government to do all development works and help constituents to solve their respective issues till deadlock on the issue prevailed.

On the instructions of the All India Congress Committee, a coordination committee constituted by President Malikarjun Khadge three days ago would have to convene the first meeting but AICC directed the party block committee to look after all development works and also report to the government directly as Rajinder Rana Members of Assembly from Sujanpur Tira, Inderdut Lakhanpal from Badsar, Ravi Thakur from Lahaul Spiti, Chaitanya Sharma Gagret, Devinder Bhutto from Kutlehar and Sudhir Sharma from Dharmshala were disqualified by the speaker for defying party whip.

The party dissolved the block unit Dharmshala and also removed the nominated counselor at Dharmshala Municipal Corporation as most of the official bearers are supporters of disqualified MLAs. It is worthwhile to mention that barring Dharmshala most of the Block units are men by the six disqualified MLAs therefore they are not following party instructions.

Many Gram Panchayat Office bearers including Pardhan and Voice Pardhan are close aides of disqualified MLAs told that they are defying the direction of party workers after disqualification of their respective MLAs. 

A Gram Panchayat President Badsar received an application from the Indira Gandhi Payri Behana Sukh Samridhi Yojana. Just before the Lok Sabha election at least the people of five assemblies baring Dharmshala block chief of such Panchayat are dominated by the disqualified MLAs therefore Congress seems in trouble.

State Congress unit was criticized by former Congress MP Viplove Thakur recently that party units of Kangra, Una, and Hamirpur were not being taken care of by the party organization. 

Four MLAs who were disqualified by the Speaker belonged to the Hamirpur Parliamentary constituency and if party couldn’t win this Lok Sabha seat which is a bastion of BJP for last thirty years it would be the major moral defeat of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri. Tops two posts of state government being dedicated to this parliamentary seats. Party president Pratibha Singh likely to be put in the fray from the Mandi Parliamentary seat also least bothered about the fallout of political turmoil in the state. 

BJP has already finalized tickets of Shimla parliamentary, Hamirpur, and Kangra as names of Suresh Kashyap, Anurag Thakur, and Trilok Kapoor are being given go ahead. Congress party even didn’t give any hint about the name of any candidate so far.

Congress party also lost the Rajayasabha election despite having 40 members in the assembly as noted lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi was defeated by the Congress rebel and BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan after crossing six Congress votes in his favor.

Congress party has disqualified six MLAs from the assembly after they violated party Whips and did not attend the passing of the Financial bill on the two occasions.

Disqualified MLAs have challenged their disqualification in the Supreme Court and the court is likely to hear them on March 18.

The people belonging to at least five assembly constituencies are not able to approach their respective representatives as the block committee authorized by the party is not discharging their functions on the instructions of AICC and the Himachal Pradesh Congress committee.

Political experts also said that following open siding with BJP MLAs and crossing of votes in the Rajya Sabha election fate of disqualified MLAs also hung in fire as they were out of station and staying outside the state in a five-star hotel. 

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu accused BJP central leaders of extending hospitality to disqualified MLAs and also blamed the disqualified MLAs for ditching the party against the wishes of the public and constituents.
