After Karnataka & Himachal Assembly Elections, CPI(M) to work for Opposition unity for the Lok Sabha poll

State Unit of CPI(M) today said that the party would work alongside all opposition parties to continue the victory march of all secular and non-communal outfits to oust the BJP government from power in the 2024 general election.

This was stated by Party state Secretary Comrade Dr Onkar Shad who was addressing the Mandi unit of CPI(M) today.

He said that BJP’s defeat in Karnataka would also be repeated in the next year’s Lok Sabha elections.  

The base has started to be built opposition unity to defeat this anti-people, communal, divisive Modi government, He said that the party welcomes the development.

He said that five months were completed by the Congress government in Himachal and the state is in the mid of a deep economic crisis as 71 percent of the total budget is being spent on salary, pension, etc. and only 29 percent is left for development, which shows that development works have stopped or would be done at a very slow pace.  

The state government has decided to impose this government cess on hydel projects to improve its economic condition, which is the right decision, but the party demand that Himachal Pradesh should get the status of a special state. 

 It has been decided to implement the guarantee of the Old Pension Scheme through which one lakh forty thousand employees will get a pension, this decision is also welcome. However, no concrete initiative has been taken so far to provide employment to five lakh youth. 

Although the infamous Hamirpur Staff Selection Commission has been dissolved for the paper leak case during the BJP government’s tenure, no alternative has been found to fill the pending recruitments. The system has not been implemented, due to which there is a lot of anger among the youth. 

No initiative has been taken so far to give remunerative prices to the farmers and gardeners for their produce.

 The government has stopped the benefits of four and a half lakh laborers of the State Labor Welfare Board.  Against which the workers are going to protest outside the Shimla secretariat on June 5, which will be supported by the CPI(M).

Party also planned to run a district-wide campaign on the burning problems of the public this was resolved in the party committee meeting held today.

Shad said that in forthcoming times the party would intensify the struggle with the organizations of affected people and farmers.

 In spite of the party opposing the airport to be built in Balh, Chief Minister Sukhu, CPI(M) has expressed strong opposition to this and it should be built on Jahu or any barren land.

Apart from this, it discussed the burning issues of inflation, unemployment, MNREGA, gardeners-farmers, urban areas, and different areas. The party would soon organize a district-level conference on the issue of land acquisition.

The District Committee meeting held at Com.Tara Chand Bhawan in Mandi which was presided over by party state secretary Com Dr. Onkar Shad Com. Vina Vaidya, Sunita Bisht, Bhim Singh, Dinesh Kaku, Bihari Lal, Indra Singh, and Ravindra Kumar also participated in the meeting.
