Gunjan Sanstha formed with the objective of saving the youth of Himachal from Drugs

State level coordination organization (Gunjan Sanstha) formed with the objective of saving the youth of Himachal from the pit of drug addiction and leading a healthy life, organized a program on Tuesday in the OSA Auditorium of Government Degree College Dharamshala on the eve of International Anti-Drug Day 26 June to commemorate drug prevention. This program was organized in joint cooperation of social service state level organization Gunjan Dharamshala, Ministry of Social Justice and Women Empowerment Government of India and Health and Family Welfare Department Kangra. The main objective of the program was to make the society drug free as well as to get rid of the bad habit of drug addiction and to make people aware about living a better social life by protecting them from the ill effects of drug addiction. In this program, as the chief guest, Cabinet rank minister and Chairman Tourism RS Bali inaugurated this grand program by lighting a lamp and in his address praised the achievements of this program and said that the government and administration are always together in conducting such social upliftment programs. On this occasion, while reading the message sent by the state’s honourable Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, he said that the Sukhu government has always been committed to building a better society. Other dignitaries, including District Health Officer Kangra Dr Rajesh Sood from the Health Department, while welcoming the chief guest said that today drug addiction is hollowing out the roots of society, which needs to be eradicated. Specially invited guest and SP Dharamshala, Dr Shalini Agnihotri said that the police is always working shoulder to shoulder with the people and is leaving no stone unturned to crack down on drug dealers. SP Nurpur Ashok Ratna, while sharing his views, said that today there is a need to save the youth and take them towards other sports competitions, music etc. On the other hand, among the social service organizations that united against drug abuse, District Mandi Literacy and Public Development Committee President and Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti (HGVS) General Secretary Satyawan Pundir and Rajendra Mohan were felicitated and the efforts being made by these organizations for drug prevention in the spirit of social service were appreciated. From the education department, Dehri College Principal Dr. Sachin, Dr. Shadab Ahmed, Jyoti Sharma Bhardwaj, Dr. Rajesh Sood, Dharamshala College Principal, Principal Diet, were specially felicitated by the chief guest and he specially requested them that in the coming time, these higher institutions of the education department should together encourage the youth and make them sensitive towards good careers so that they do not get tempted towards drugs. During this, District Magistrate Kangra Hemraj Bairwa, SP Kangra Shalini Agnihotri also talked about contributing together for a drug-free society. Program organizer and Director Gunjan Sanstha Sandeep Parmar on this occasion appreciated the efforts of Executive Director Vijay Kumar and said that he is creating awareness by coordinating with various departments against drug abuse in the state.

On this occasion, R S Bali said that the purpose of organizing International Anti-Drug Day is to inspire the youth of the society to avoid it and also to make them aware about the damage caused by its ill effects on health. He said that its purpose is to get rid of the bad habit of drug addiction and save them from the ill effects of drug addiction. He inspired the group present with the lines of the song *”Door Hai Manzil, Rasta Mushkil, Chalte Jana Re, Chalte Jana Re*”. On this occasion, Dharamshala Municipal Corporation Officer Zafar Iqbal, SP Nurpur Ashok Ratna also called for contribution in building a drug-free society. In this program, the students of Dronacharya Nursing College presented a play to create awareness about drug addiction.
