Addiction has reached villages, police should take strict against all those involved in the drug trade: Rathore

All India Congress Committee spokesperson and Theog MLA Kuldeep Rathore said that the drug trade has increased significantly in the state. Even in institutions like NIT, where there is a lot of strictness, addiction has reached the hostels. This in itself is a matter of concern and investigation. Talking to journalists in Shimla, Rathore demanded from the government that strict action should be taken in this matter. He said that this action should not be taken for show but in reality, so that drug smugglers can be controlled. Rathore said that today drug addiction has spread its wings even in rural areas. There was extensive discussion on this even in the monsoon session of the Assembly. The state government has sent its proposal to amend the law to curb drug abuse and send it to the Center for approval. Till now no reply has come from the Centre. Rathore said that if any big leader is also involved in this or tries to save the accused, then strict action should be taken against him also. He said that in the capital too, there has been a significant increase in the cases of chitta and other drugs in recent times. It is also a matter of concern, if control is not being taken in Shimla, which is the capital of the state, then what will be the condition in the far-flung areas. Rathore raised questions on the functioning of the police. He said that till now only small smugglers have been caught in this case. Big fish are still out of reach.

What is the main source of intoxication, where the intoxication is coming from, there is a need to investigate and arrest the accused. He said that there is a need to take action in this matter in collaboration with the central investigating agencies. In response to a question, Rathore said that Congress will win with a full majority in the assembly elections being held in five states of the state. He said that he too will soon be going to Madhya Pradesh for the election campaign. On the health of the Chief Minister, Rathore said that I wish him a speedy recovery. It is hoped that soon he will recover and return to serve the people of the state.
