A Village Youth, a Digital Trail, and a Nation’s Security: Espionage Case Shakes Himachal’s Dehra

In a startling development from the quiet village of Sukahar in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district, a 20-year-old youth named Abhishek has been arrested on charges of espionage, allegedly leaking sensitive information to Pakistan through digital channels.

The arrest, made by Dehra Police following a cyber surveillance tip-off, has sent shockwaves through the local community. Abhishek, a college dropout, was taken into custody from his home, where authorities seized his mobile phone. Forensic experts have confirmed that the device contained classified digital documents linked to national security.

Superintendent of Police Chaudhary stated, “The evidence suggests the accused was in prolonged contact with a foreign intelligence agency. His online activity and access to sensitive data are deeply concerning.”

Investigators believe Abhishek used social media and other online platforms to communicate with handlers across the border. A case has been registered under Section 152 of the Indian Penal Code, and he is set to appear in court today.

The police are now expanding their probe to trace his digital footprint and uncover any wider network. Meanwhile, local authorities are urging families to stay vigilant about their children’s online behavior and to report anything suspicious.

This case serves as a sobering reminder of how even remote corners of the country are not immune to the reach of international espionage—and how digital vigilance is now a matter of national importance.
