A review meeting was held regarding the preparations for the Rajgarh fair
A review meeting was held on Saturday regarding the preparations for the district-level Baisakhi Fair in Rajgarh. Presiding over the meeting, SDM and Chairman of the Fair Committee, Rajgarh, Rajkumar Thakur, announced that on the auspicious occasion of Baisakh Sankranti on April 14, a procession of the region’s revered deity, Shirgul, will be launched under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Nahan Priyanka Verma. This procession will begin at the Shirgul Temple in Rajgarh, pass through the market, bus stand, and old tehsil, and reach Nehru Ground. Thousands of people from the area will participate. He added that the fair will be formally inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner, Sirmaur, at Nehru Ground. Various schools and women’s groups will present colorful cultural programs on the occasion.
The SDM informed that the Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, R.S. Bali, will be the chief guest at the cultural evening on April 15th. Former Chairman of the District Council, Sirmaur, Dayal Pyari, ADM Nahan, L.R. Verma, and Additional Superintendent of Police, Nahan, Yogesh Rolta, will be present as special guests. Similarly, on the final day of the fair, April 16th, a grand wrestling competition will be held, featuring renowned wrestlers from North India. Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania will be the chief guest at the final cultural evening, while former Assembly Speaker G.R. Musafir will be the special guest. He added that local artists will be provided ample opportunity to showcase their talents. To enhance the appeal of all three cultural evenings, renowned folk artists from the state, as well as Bollywood and Punjabi artists, have been invited. The final list of performers is being released soon.
Tehsildar Rajendra Sharma, Vivek Sharma, former president of nagar panchayat Jyoti Sahni and Dinesh Arya, president of Youth Congress Pachha Vikram Thakur, Anuj Thakur, Vikram Jaildar, Pariksha Chauhan, Ramakrishna, Chandramohan Sharma and other fair committee members participated in the meeting.
